Don designed our house in a west coast tudor style around the existing trees with a basement garage to take full advantage of the lot. The design is practical and yet spectacular, with beamed octagonal dining room, old fashioned living room with piano windows and veranda, beamed and open from the second floor kitchen, and upstairs library with covered deck. Don with the help of his onsite assistant, Mark Whitney - who became our son in law, have built a warm and attractive house with many unique architectural features.

During the design and construction of our house, Don was fully committed to giving us the house of our dreams. He was more than fair in his dealings with us - and we enjoyed greatly the experience of working with him on the house. The house is well built, but equally importantly, the house has a old fashion style and warm character that only Don McCarthy can provide.   Simply put, we could not be more pleased with our house and the experience of working with Don. In our view Don has a special talent for designing traditional homes and is highly qualified to build a quality house. Perhaps most importantly, Don is fair, trustworthy and honest in his dealings with people, and Don has earned our full respect.
